Let the 2016 SaltWater fun begin!!!

I finally got back out where I belong… On the Saltwater
After a few uneventful trips to some lakes, I had to get out in my back yard. I got my bait, then started to head out towards my normal drop spots. Took this nice shot before I set off:

My trusty stead is an Ocean Kayak Ultra 4.3

I managed to get my go pro all set up, and took a awesome selfie..

You just cant beat this view heading out further offshore…

I ended up getting into quite a few sculpin, which wasnt really what I was looking for so I didnt take too many images of them, but have video footage I have to sort through which I caught this gem:

I did however get into what I was hoping for bouncing a big ole 11oz jig off of the bottom, you can now say hello to my 1st Cod of many for 2016

After that and my ADD getting the better of me, I found my way to a little inshore spot where my mastery of the Flounder kung-fu took over.
I started off with over the counter rig that I’ve never used before, but got fed up watching the Flounder pick at my bait, but never take any. I switched back over to my old set up, and the fun started…
First fella I caught was this guy:

And as you can see, I was pretty happy.
I then got quite a few more:

Then out of no where, this little bastard decided to join the party:

For those that done know this species its a Pollack.

Overall I have to say for this being the 1st time I was pretty happy with the result. This time of year is still a bit of hit or miss given the colder temps, but I couldnt wait any longer. There will be much more of this going on, so anyone that’s interested in coming out, just let me know, and we can make the arrangements.

Jackson Kayak Kraken Review

Made this review for

I had the opportunity to take a good look at the Jackson Kayak Kraken Sit on top Kayak:

This is an initial overview of the New Jim Sammons signature series, Jackson Kayaks Kraken Sit on top fishing Kayak.

In detail we go through the features of the boat, pointing out the great options this boat comes with.  Thank you for viewing, and we hope you subscribe to our channel for new videos and reviews.

Kayak fishing has taken off in the last few years, and as you can see from the developments in kayak design more and more features are being added to boats right off the assembly line. The Jackson Kayak Kraken is a perfect example of a boat you can fish with right out of the gate with no modifications at all.

Please also subscribe to CKA’s YouTube Channel for future reviews, vlogs, videos etc!!

Fishing Lessons Learned in 2014

Fishing Lessons Learned in 2014

There are many many more, but this is a good Cole’s Note’s Version.

1. Always wear your PFD. (too many senseless losses in our community)
2. In a tournament, always measure your fish.
3. Always lock your equipment up.
4. Clean your gear after youve been out on the saltwater.  Bring some water with you to rinse it off (sooner the better)
5. Grease your reels.
6. Double check your Camera Batteries are charged.
7. Keep well hydrated
8. Always wear Sunblock
9. Be humble.  Bragging only puts people off.
10. Listen more than you talk.
11. Take someone out who’s never fished from a Kayak, Give them a Rod and watch them smile.

No time like the present to reinvigorate the Blog right?

No time like the present to reinvigorate the Blog right?

Long time no post..

I wont say sorry, because that’s crap.  I hope everyone’s 2014 was great.

2014 was an off year for me, both personally and professionally.
I didn’t fish as much as I wanted, which was a total bummer.  It wasn’t for a lack of motivation it was simply due to not having time.  My wife and I had been trying selling our home (staging, prepping, etc) with little luck, so most of my gear wasn’t at my finger tips.  Earlier in the year my boats were stolen along with some of my equipment. I did get the boats back (see my previous posts), but some of my other stuff was never returned.  We ended up selling our home in late summer, and the new place became a priority.  It sounds like one excuse after another, but to find the time was damn near impossible.  When I did get out, I had a great time.  I was able to get out with some new friends, and enjoy a day on the water.  I didn’t do much recording though, which was a bummer. Some freshwater fun, and also some Salty adventures.
Canadian Kayak Anglers has been doing well.  I planning on a few new things for the site, that will hopefully bring more awareness to the site, and Kayak fishing in general.  Be on the lookout for the official CKA tester pool :D.  This year I want to get into more reviews, and back to the DIY stuff that I really enjoy doing.  I have the space now to be able to do a lot more of my own things vs having to rely on others, and in turn share that with you.
I have a lot of plans for 2015, and I’m pretty excited to start if off big (thus the post on here).  My YouTube channel will be revamped and hoping to get more involved there.  Let me know if you’d rather have this type of blog or more of a Vlog style and I can post them here too.  Does anyone really read this stuff anymore?
Anyway, Im looking forward to whats in store for 2015.

Great News!!

Its with great relief and excitement that I can now say I’m in possession of my Kayaks once again. It’s been a stressful month since they were stolen, but I’m very happy to get them back. Still missing some items from them, but what can ya do. Just glad to have them back. I want to thank my beautiful loving wife Laura for tolerating me while I probably wasn’t the best person to be around during all of this. Again, just glad we can move on from this. I’m very blessed to have her, and my friends who have supported me during all of this.
